Georgian Strongmen and Highland Games National Federation
Georgian Strongmen and Highland Games National Federation, founded in 2009 in Kutaisi, Georgia and promoting Strongman sport in two formats:
one is modern Strongman competition version as it has been promoted by "World's Strongest Man" group and "Giants Live", another is traditional highland games model, which was historically known for our nation throughout the centuries. Georgians always loved to demonstrate power feats to each other and carry the honourable name of Strongest Man in the village, town, region or country. Therefore, motivated by our national old time heroes and modern Strongman legend Mariusz Pudzianowski my friend and me decided to revive this sport in 2009 and took the motto: " Honour old legends and create the new ones".
Today we have up to 20 active strongmen in our federation in all 3 weight categories leading by 7 times Georgian Strongest Man and top 5 World's Strongest Man Konstantine Janashia "The Georgian Bull". There are also other strong athletes in our team: Giorgi Doinjashvili, Chabuka Chigladze, Ako Pipia, Giorgi Metivishvili and etc. Our goal is to host International Strongman and Highland Games tournaments in Georgia and do also national and regional competitions during the different folk festivals and celebrations.
